"One day at a time"

Posted by Jo M on

"One day at a time" is a common saying in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and other 12-step recovery programs. It means that instead of worrying about the past or being anxious about the future, individuals should focus on living in the present and taking life one day at a time.

For someone in recovery from addiction, this can mean staying sober one day at a time, and not worrying about how they will stay sober for the rest of their life. By focusing on the present moment and making a commitment to sobriety for just one day at a time, individuals can break down their recovery into manageable pieces and avoid becoming overwhelmed.

This approach can also be helpful in managing other challenges in life, such as stress, anxiety, or depression. By focusing on the present moment and taking things one day at a time, individuals can reduce feelings of overwhelm and find a sense of calm and control.
